OUR STORY

The Moto Social was founded in May, 2013 in Toronto, Canada. With only Toronto in mind back then, we set out to create an inclusive, local, monthly motorcycle event that was focused on connecting people and building a stronger sense of community in the city. We wanted to make Toronto feel a bit smaller, help people feel more connected and at home in the city, and get everyone more excited about seeing one another, while making motorcycling more approachable to all.

The Moto Social was created to fill an unmet social need in Toronto at the time. Back in 2013, our motorcycle community was divided and disconnected and needed a positive and inclusive space to gather, connect, and thrive. We didn’t create The Moto Social with the intention of seeing it go global like it did, but after a few years of hosting the events in Toronto, watching so many new friendships develop, and feeling the social divide in our community fade away, we decided to explore the idea of hosting The Moto Social in other cities as well.

There’s no in-crowd or spectator section because everyone is welcome, everyone is invited, everyone is included. You just need to want to grab a coffee and hang with some new friends, and a lot of them just happen to ride motorcycles.

Hey friends! We’re Vik and Sam – the goons who oversee and navigate the global operations of The Moto Social. We’ve been married for 15+ years (yeah, we got married when we were 12 🤪), we’re creative, we’re adventurous and we love meeting new people. We recently moved from Toronto to Hamilton, Ontario and you’ll often find us walking around town with our awkward little wiener dog Frankie, or grabbing coffee or ice cream at one of the local spots. We ride all kinds of bikes (cuz the perfect motorbike is 5 motorbikes) and we’re super excited for the future of motorcycling. Thank you all for the continued support over the years. Each of you individually is what makes The Moto Social special and the reason we do what we do. We love you all.
